Description
The CHAPTER I H.O.T.S. replaces
traditional drill and practice activities and content instruction in compensatory programs
with thinking activities designed to generate the gains in basic skills expected from
Chapter I programs while improving students social confidence. The program is
conducted in a computer lab with a detailed curriculum and a teacher trained in Socratic
dialogue techniques. A one-week workshop and computer equipment are required.

Description
This workshop focuses on the
nine instructional strategies that have the highest probability of enhancing student

Description
With QUILT, the classroom
environment becomes more active, more student-centered, more constructivist, more
inquiry-based, and more meta-cognitive. The training-for-trainers approach helps school
districts prepare local teachers who then train others in their region. Typically, a local
school team (two teachers and an administrator) attends this week long training where they
learn how to facilitate QUILT with their own faculty.
